LIFESTYLE | Hello Janurary

Well hello 2017! I hate to say this, but I'm nowhere near ready for you. Please come back in a couple of weeks instead, yeah?

Anyway, I suppose I have to face up to the fact that it's now a new year and it's January, too.

Here's what's looking good this month.

Formidable Joy | Formidable Joy Blog | Hello January | What's new in January

THE BOOK
The Hundred Lies of Lizzie Lovett by Chelsea Sedoti sounds absolutely fascinating. The story is about teenage misfit Hawthorn who immerses herself into the disappearance of Lizzie Lovett. Chelsea has a pretty crazy theory of what happened, and to prove it she goes as far as inserting herself into Lizzie's life, including taking her job. It's had great reviews and is apparently quite emotional, plus I love the eye catching cover.

The Hundred Lies of Lizzie Lovett is released on the 3rd.

THE EVENT
Shhh Maman Le Mot is Dad's Army meets Secret Cinema with a bunch of comedy thrown in. The event states that you can expect mischief, moustaches, misinformation and the odd exploring meringue, and you can practice your accent, learn the new skills required to succeed in your missions and get practice by immersing yourself in 40's Parisian culture. It sounds bonkers but a whole lot of fun too.
Shhh Maman Le Mot is available during selected dates throughout London from the 13th.

THE ALBUM
You Me At Six's Night People is released this month. I'm actually really excited. I used to be huge fan of the band, and although I did like their last few albums, I much prefered their earlier stuff so fell out of love with their music. But Night People (the single) in particular is bloody amazing, and I was also lucky enough to catch the band's secret set at Reading this year, which was really good too. They performed even better then I remembered (not that they were bad when I saw them before, but I definitely think they've improved), so I can't wait to pick up this album.
Night People is released on the 6th.

THE MOVIE
Predictably, there's not a huge much out this month. There is of course the latest Underworld and Resident Evil, but as much as I love Resident Evil, there are so many sequels to both these series that I wouldn't know where to start to catch up. There is, however, The Book of Love, a feel good adventure film starring Jason Sudeikis (who is hilarious!) and Maisie Williams of Game of Thrones fame. The film follows Henry, a widowed architect, who builds teenager Millie a raft so that they can sail across the ocean in search of her long lost father. The due strike up a friendship of course, and I think this will be the perfect sweet movie to see in the new year.
The Book of Love is released on the 13th.

ANYTHING ELSE?
In case you haven't already heard, I'm doing Veganuary again this year! The challenge involves going vegan for a month - and making a lifestyle change - to help make a difference, such as saving the lives of animals and being friendlier to the environment. It makes a huge difference and, last year when I participated, I found it made me feel so much better too - I felt less bloated, more sprightly and better in myself - plus it helped me discover a love for cooking. I'll be blogging about my challenge throughout the month but in the meantime you can find out more here - and perhaps even sign up yourself ;)
Veganuary is running from today onwards.
