LIFESTYLE | Hello October

It's finally October!

October is definitely one of my favourite months because of Halloween obviously. I love Halloween because I love anything spooky, scary or edgy.

October is also a favourite month of mine as it is the month to me that I consider the start of winter. Halloween is closely followed by Bonfire Night and then in a blink of an eye it'll be Christmas!

So here's what I'm looking forward to this month.

Formidable Joy | Formidable Joy Blog | Hello October | SUM41 | Train To Busan | The Girl On The Train | Debut Magazine

Glitter by Aprilynne Pike sounds super different and interesting. It's described as Breaking Bad meets Marie Antoinette set in a near future world, except inside Versailles, everyone lives as if it's the 18th century. When Dani discovers she must marry a ruthless and dangerous man, she realizes she has just six months to get out of it. To do so, she must raise funds to escape and she does this by selling glitter, which is seen as an addictive drug. It doesn't sound like it should work, but somehow, I have a feeling that it's going to. It's entirely different and that's what I love about it. Glitter will be published on the 25th.

SUM41 recently made an eagerly awaited return, and I'm really excited that they'll be releasing their sixth studio album, 13 Voices, on the 7th. From the sound of the single Fake My Own Death, the album is going to see the band going back to their classic punk rock sound from when they first came on the scene, so I can't wait to hear this.

I spoke about this film recently, but Train to Busan is out on the 28th, obviously - just in time for Halloween. If you want a genuinely scary film (with zombies!) then this is the film to watch this month. I am however also looking very forward to The Girl on the Train. I read the book earlier this year and although I'm disappointed the film isn't set in London - or even the UK for that matter - I'm sure Emily Blunt is going to do a great job. It'll be out on the 7th.

There's no point in me mentioning any Halloween events - there will be plenty of Halloween blog posts for that. Therefore, if you haven't already, make sure you grab yourself some tickets for Debut Magazine's London Fashion Week networking party. Networking can be daunting - but this party, which includes a cocktail on them - is set to be a little more casual with less pressure. You can expect a guest list of fashion designers, models, photographers, bloggers, make up artists and other professionals. The party is on the 7th and you can buy tickets here. Which brings me to...

Debut Magazine have just launched their print issue on the 30th of September - exciting times! The issue will be released every other month and the reason I'm so excited about this is because I have recently been officially welcomed to the team as online editor! While many of the staff are focusing on the print magazine, I'll be looking after all the online content - running my own team, making sure all content is updated smoothly and of course contributing myself. It's a really great opportunity and I've thoroughly enjoyed getting stuck in so far. I hope you'll all check out the website and pick up a copy of the magazine too!
