LIFESTYLE | Secret Cinema Does 28 Days Later

So I recently took the plunge and finally signed up for a Secret Cinema event.

It’s something I’ve been wanting to do for years now, ever since it first came up on my radar long ago when I first discovered that ‘immersive cinema’ existed – and even more so following their Back To The Future event a few years back.

Unfortunately I missed out on that as none of my friends are really big fans, nor were they willing to pay that much for an experience they’re not really passionate about – which I totally understand.

However, when I discovered Secret Cinema was doing 28 Days Later, one of my favourite horror movies of all time, I was beside myself with excitement.

I still am.

To have the quirky company finally involve horror into their events is like a dream come true with me.

So, even though none of my friends fancied it, I thought ‘f*ck it’ and booked a ticket anyway. I figured the whole event is about putting yourself out there and interacting with people – from what I assume, going as a big group will be fun, but it would probably mean you’ll miss so much because you’re having too much with your friends to branch out.

Which is why I finally took the plunge and decided to go anyway.

It’s kind of nerve-wracking, especially since as I discover more and more about the event, the scarier it sounds.

Obviously I knew it was going to be scary, but it’s now sounding pretty terrifying.

I thought about how I would blog about this whole thing because as we all know, the point is to be secret. There’s little point in me attending and blogging everything that went on – that would ruin it for everyone and defy the point.

Although I’m likely to pop up some form of small-and-slightly-vague review once the time comes, I thought it would be nice to talk about the build up to the event as I’ve been very impressed so far.

The company has issued fake news coverage of a virus spreading and all we know so far is that we’re to turn up at a secret venue with a medical card, prepped for a vaccine/vaccination.

They’ve even created the NSH which just goes to show how much attention to detail has been put into it all.

It’s something similar to what I thought about doing if I ever finish my zombie novel and get it published – news coverage and social media talking about the epidemic.

It’s certainly getting me excited and scared and it’s entirely immersive – despite the fact that I won’t be attending for another two weeks yet.

I'm also really liking how they're touching on the subject of NHS (or rather, in this case, NSH) cuts being made and are actively encouraging people to protest (safely) this. Although this isn't directly related to the Secret Cinema event, I do think it's nice that they're using the build up to it all to get people more involved with that side of things and what is going on in politics right now.

You can find out more about that side of things here, which I think is a fantastic idea.

They're also encouraging everyone to take a rage test here. I resulted in getting 77% infection vulnerability...lucky me...

So as you can see, they've gone all out and the experience has already started. If you haven't got tickets yet, make sure you do ASAP. The virus is spreading and you need to get yourself vaccinated!

With endless love, we left you sleeping. Now we're sleeping with you. Don't wake up.
