LIFESTYLE | Hello January

So we've officially hit 2016 and here's hoping its a good 'un. I don't know about you, but I sure am glad to see the back of 2015. A new year often represents a new start and you might just pick up on some new changes around here too.

As explained in my last post, I'd been feeling unhappy with my blog for a long time and felt some changes were necessary.

Therefore without further ado, I'm going to jump straight back into it by returning to an old favourite feature of mine - a sum up of what I'm personally looking forward to each month.

Formidable Joy - UK Fashion, Beauty & Lifestyle Blog | Hello January; Formiable Joy,; Hello January

From the 14th January, London will be alight after dark with unique and bold art installations in the form of lights, projections and other projects alike. Over 20 artists will be taking part in Lumiere London which will be available across the West End and Kings Cross. One of the first installations already announced is Garden of Light at Trafalgar Square and judging by the photos of when the same installation appeared at Durham - it's damn pretty. The whole event is produced by Artichoke and is definitely a great and alternative way to see London after dark now that the Christmas lights are gone for another year.

The eagerly anticipated fifth studio album by Panic! At The Disco will finally be released on 15th January. Death of a Bachelor already has some damn good singles - I've been playing Emporer's New Clothes, Hallelujah and Victorious non-stop lately. I quite liked Panic! when they first came out, back in the day, then never really listened to them much after that. However, after hearing their (new?) sound lately, I'm a coveted fan and can't wait for this album to drop.

This Is Where It Ends by Marieke Nijkamp may have received poor reviews on Goodreads and isn't exactly a feel good book to read welcoming in the new year, but it's certainly intrigued me. Penned for release on 5th Jan, This Is Where It Ends tells the story of what happens when someone open fires on students at a high school. It's told from four different perspectives, reflecting a harrowing reality that is unfortunately all too familiar in the world lately. Despite the negative reviews, it's a book that will, in my eyes, perhaps help me understand a little more about what it's like to be in that situation - something that's already a fear of mine.

There's a forest in Japan, at the base of Mt. Fuji, which is a notoriously common suicide site and has been referenced in many documentaries, books and films. Also known the Suicide Forest, Aokigahara has a historic association with demons in Japanese mythology. The Forest is an upcoming horror film, released on 8th January, which is based in Aokighara. It follows the story of Sara who enters the forest to discover the fate of her missing twin sister, and finds herself harrowed by the souls trapped there. I'm particularly looking forward to this film because of its links to the original fascination with Suicide Forest, so hopefully it'll be scary.

Hell yeah! Welcome to the newly relaunched blog! With a new name, layout and even my own domain, I'm super, super excited to reveal it to you all. The name is a play on my second name and the ideas behind the blog and how I still want to inspire people. So, the meaning of Formidable itself is quite..daunting, as apparently it means 'inspiring fear or respect through being impressively large, powerful, intense or capable' [source], but hey, I'm going to go with 'inspiring people', still. But I think it has a nice ring to it and is much better then the previous name. I'm really looking forward to some of the new changes around here and I hope over the upcoming weeks you'll notice a better variety of content and other little improved bits and pieces.

I'd really appreciate your thoughts and would love to hear what you all think about this big change, so please let me know with a comment!
