TRAVEL | MEXICAN BLT TOUR WITH TREK AMERICA

Sometimes in life, you just gotta take the plunge.

For a long time, I was guilty of always being the type of person to say I wanted to do something..and then never get around to it. I hated this and it even got to a point when a few summers ago, I'd find myself wide awake at 3am, nearly suffocating at the thought of how my life was going nowhere and how time was fast running out before I had the chance to do all the things I wanted to do, like travel and interview hot rockstars for a living.

Eventually I got a full time job and found myself too exhausted to NOT sleep at night but the idea of actually doing things when I want to stuck by me and now I try to just bloody get on with things. Hence why I've taken the plunge and decided to book myself in for a tour with Trek America - my first ever time travelling.

I've always wanted to travel and although now really isn't the right time, a tour with a reputable company in November this year is the perfect way to test the waters. I'll be travelling but without fully committing myself to travelling alone. Each tour has a group of 11 people in a similar age group which means I'll be travelling with like minded people. This is both scary and exhilarating for me because although one of my best friends might be coming, even if she doesn't, I'll have the opportunity to form some cool bonds with new people.

The tour takes place in early November, beginning in (and ending at) Cancun, travelling through Mexico to visit World Heritage sights like Chichen Itza and the Yucatan, visiting lush waterfalls and beaches and much, much more. Mexico is a place I have ALWAYS wanted to visit, but it's a place I wouldn't necessarily feel confident travelling around alone, especially not for my first time travelling. And since going on a tour with Trek America has always been on my bucket list, it just made sense.

Admittedly, it was a hard choice at first, considering my other bucket list trip of a lifetime is to do a road trip across the states. Trek America offer some fab tours for this but, as it goes, it's something I'd just love to do in my own time and on my own terms one day - so that I can stay in certain states longer then others or skip some completely if need be. So, The Mexican BLT tour sounded absolutely perfect for me although I don't doubt that after this I'll probably want to book another tour with them!

I'm super excited and don't really know what to expect - only that I'm going to see some amazing things. I've still got four months until then which are going to go by really slow but there's so much to sort out, from flights to packing and of course finding out who else will be on the tour. I've been planning this trip since early this year really but it's only now that I've finally put the deposit down that it feels real at last.

I can't wait to blog about it all either and document this trip of a lifetime.

Finally, it feels real good to take the plunge and finally begin what will hopefully be a lifetime filled with travel.

  2. Good on your for following through and turning ambition into reality!

I understand having a full time job can be exhausting, I feel the same way and at times, I feel the exhaustion stops me from doing the things I want to do! But at the end of the day, I just kind of have to realise what's more important, definitely my ambitions!

Great post! Hope you have a lovely time when you go on holiday!
