I've already done a similar blog post to this - back in January - but with my room being redecorated in just a couple of weeks time and the fact that I'm stuck between two final ideas for it, I thought I'd let you all know some of my plans.
So my room is very cozy at the moment but also very cluttered. My first idea was to follow the likes of many popular bloggers Instagram feeds and channel a more minimal look with white walls, cream bedspreads etc. But I'll never be a minimal person - I'm messy and I own far too much stuff - so although I have been throwing out a lot of stuff and decluttering, a bright and minimal room simply isn't for me.
I've been catching up with a lot of New Girl lately and I'm really loving the blue/turquoise walls with funky pink and gold accessories lately, seen both in New Girl and unbreakable. Blue, pink and gold doesn't really seem like they would go together but somehow it's a combination that works. Classy and gold accessories mix well with mismatched shabby chic cushions and such and somehow it's a theme that I really love.
I really love this offbeat theme, each of the items I wouldn't necessarily like but somehow work really well together, from the vintage floral bedspread and random bedside tables that don't match at all. I also love the brickwork, giving the room a New York apartment feel.
Kimmy and Titus's apartment features more of a turquoise blue and focus's on more gold accessories from the cushions and gorgeous curtains! Blue is probably my least favourite colour and I fear it will give me a headache but as a whole it looks really funky and out there, which is really the look I'll be going for.
I've already begun to pick up some random accessories, loving that I can pick up anything without worrying about it having to all match because, well...it doesn't have to match. Unfortunately my room is quite small so I am worried about it looking too cluttered, but at least the blue will brighten it up a bit as opposed to black walls like I was originally thinking.
What do you think? Let me know with a comment!
