Sometimes I find weeks pass by ever so quickly when I'm working full time, being that I often finish late and usually only have time for dinner and an hour or so to chill out after work before it's time for bed again. I suppose when you work full time, that's life though, isn't it?
Sometimes I get to relish in my own time though, especially on weeks like this one where I've had an 'easy' week. By this weekend, I'd have only had to do a couple of 'lates', with an early morning delivery shift on Tuesday and a sort-of-early finish Wednesday, paired with my two days off I've had a chance to join reality again and indulge in my favourite hobbies.
Recently I've been to the cinema a few times, caught up on blogging, found myself engrossed in a new (new to me anyway) book, cooked something from scratch all by myself and even managed to squeeze in a lazy movie day with Mamaw.
So here's exactly what I've been loving lately.
MOVIE DAYS WITH MAMAW
The weather outside was especially dreary today so we grabbed a blanket, plugged in the Apple TV and decided to watch a couple of movies today. We finally got around to watching Maleficant which was really, really good! I don't tend to fuss over kids films or ones suitable for all the family so it's taken me a while to actually want to watch this and once I did, I didn't really know what to expect. It was pleasantly surprising and offered a good twist to the classical Sleeping Beauty fairytale. Angelina Jolie was absolutely captivating in her role too.
We also rented out Begin Again, a light hearted comedy film all about music. I found it really charming and it was very easy watching. It was heart warming and had a great soundtrack and was really the perfect film to watch on a cold Thursday afternoon.
THE MAZE RUNNER
I know I'm REALLY slow about getting into this series but I spotted it in WHSmith after watching the trailer and figured I'd give it a go. I haven't been able to put it down since. It's deeply gripping with twists appearing left right and center. I'd really like to go and see the movie but seeing the trailer before beginning the book kind of helped me imagine the setting of the book which was good! If you haven't read it, I'd recommend picking it up now. It's a must have for anyone who favours action or mystery books and if you're a fan of The Hunger Games then it's a no brainer really - you can't NOT read this book!
THE VAMPIRE DIARIES
IT'S BACK! I'd fallen behind a whole season and a half when the newest season aired so naturally when I saw it was on Netflix I watched back to back episodes for weeks on end, going through the complete motions. Most of the time I found myself shouting random stuff at the laptop like 'DAMON! NOOOO! YES! Oh my god Enzo is SO hot and that accent is so sexy. DAMON! I want to marry him! Or Enzo...One of the two' etc etc. I will admit, the season before last I DID feel that things started to get a little silly in terms of storylines but the last season and this one has really picked up. They've gone back to the classical edgy way of the show with sexy characters (Mmmm, Enzo) and lots of wit.
HALLOWEEN & BONFIRE NIGHT & CHRISTMAS
For once I've actually managed to have some plans for each. I got scared witless at Dr Fright's Halloween Nights for Halloween, watched some firework displays with friends and family and Christmas...well, we've still got a while yet but I'm really bloody excited. That is all.
The best account on instagram right now, featuring a super cute rescue dog living with super hot models, this creepy island in Mexico which helped me decide where I'm DEFINITELY going on holiday next year and this really cool creative doodle book which I've promptly added to my Christmas wish list.
