Recently the lovely Laura from The Bathory dropped me an email and asked me if I'd be interested in trying out a personalised bath soak. Being a self confessed bath addict, of course I said yes. Anyone who knows me will insist how much I love my baths and how I love lighting some candles and using luxurious products to ensure I am relaxed as possible.
I was really impressed with the whole idea of making a bath soak personalized. We're usually faced with so many different bath and shower products, each offering a wide range of ingredients and benefits so it's definitely easy to feel overwhelmed and not quite know what's right for you.
I've been feeling pretty stressed lately and like I've had no time to myself, not being able to relax much even when I have as I've had so much to do. So I was eager to find a soak that would hopefully help me with my problem. I had a lot of fun choosing what I wanted my bath soak to include and found the whole process was really interesting too. I chose Epsom bath salts for a detox and then the real fun came with deciding what oils to pick. You can see a full list of oils, or choose based on how you want to feel, such as 'I want to feel confident/sexy/revived' etc. The site displays a list of oils that can help towards each emotion, each oil described as 'the exotic one' or 'the calming one'. Furthermore, you can click on each individual oil to find out more about it, as well as what other oils it goes well with, what it smells like and how it makes you feel.
How fun! I picked lavender, rosemary and ylang ylang, which would work together to make me feel confident, relaxed and inspired/focused. I didn't realize until afterwards but each oil was suggested to go well with each other which was great.
My detox bath salt arrived in no time and there was no surprise that I loved the beautiful but simple packaging. It was cute and stated on the paper bag exactly what was in the soak - perfect for if you've forgotten! The jar itself is very pretty and I even received a little card alongside it to remind me to recycle it, or other ways that I could reuse it - how sweet!
So this weekend just gone I got down to business - I ran a hot bath, poured in a generous amount of the gorgeous smelling salt (it smelt delicious and left my skin with a subtle lavender scent for hours afterwards too) before succumbing to what had to be one of the most relaxing baths of my life. The detox bath soak did exactly that - it made me feel relaxed, sleepy and very indulged. The next morning I did find that I was more focused too, even if that's because for the first time in so long I managed to get a decent night sleep after my revitalising bath.
Of course it's so easy to big up a product you've been sent to review regardless of how you feel but in all honesty, this really made me feel amazing. My skin felt silky smooth afterwards and it did wonders for my mind, helping me relax and fall asleep afterwards so easily. It was really nice to switch off for the evening and forget all about technology or putting The Vampire Diaries on to help me sleep (haha). Instead I climbed into bed afterwards and attempted to read a book, but didn't get past three or so pages...
I absolutely loved how personalized the whole thing was from start to finish, and found even the way the product arrived was a really nice touch too. It's definitely made me think twice about heading to Tesco's and just grabbing whatever bath soak is on cheap at the moment. At £18 it's not cheap, but I find the price is well worth the quality of the product. As a bonus, it's pure and organic and the bottle even suggests amounts to use to help the product last longer, i.e 25% for a quick fix, 50% for the full effect etc. I actually didn't read this properly (typical) before using the product and only used a few handfuls, but found I still reaped great results despite having less than the suggested amount. Next time, I'll be using about half and without a doubt I'll be purchasing again. It's also a great gift idea too, as by personalizing and choosing different oils to suit someone's personality really gives that extra thought rather then just buying any old smellies from Boots or Superdrug!
