REVIEW & HAUL // L'OREAL COLOR RICHE LIPSTICKS

A while back, I picked up a bunch of brand new & never used L'Oreal lipsticks from a bootsale. I think I purchased 5 for £5, which if you ask me is a great deal, especially as some colours and collections I picked up are actually still on sale now so still very current and on trend.

I enjoy experimenting with different lipsticks and I'm without a doubt a person who can buy ten red lipsticks for each lipsticks individual shade, even if to someone else they all look the same! As I'm quite fair skinned, I actually enjoy nothing more then wearing a bold, bright colour during hot summer days or when it comes to evening activities such as going to gigs, I love trying the darkest and most gothic shade of purple or red I can find.

So being able to pick these up for so cheap was definitely a bargain! A couple are quite similar to each other in colour, but other then that I think I chose a pretty varied collection, from a nude to a bold red and even brown (which I did NOT suit at all, but hey, at least I gave it a go!). I was going to review them all in one post but as I got a bit snap happy and enjoyed trying out new ways to photograph them (I'm still learning in the whole 'taking photos of yourself wearing makeup' department), I decided to stick to one lipstick per post, which will mean more content for me as well.

The first lipstick, Color Riche Made For Me Intense, in shade 376 Cassis Passion, is probably one of my favourites out of the whole lot. It's a deep red shade with pink undertones, meaning in certain lights it looks more like a deep fuchsia pink. As you can see in the images below, the more up close, the more pink it looks. However, it's a lovely shade that has the right undertones to not wash me out too much, and I think the way it leans a little towards a deep pink shade gives it a bit of a fun twist, meaning it's more suitable for a night out than what a full on red would be. It's not too dark either, but I do think it's a little bold and a lot of people would probably shy away from such a bold and deep colour.

I found it to be long-lasting and even after using makeup remover and a face wipe, there were still tinges of red on my lips which I liked. However, it did mean I had to be especially careful applying it as even the slightest smudge was very obvious against my pale skin. The combination of Omega-3 oils and Vitamin E is supposed to stop your lips drying out, and I have to admit, although I didn't see much difference as my lips are never particularly dry anyway, I was pleasantly surprised. I thought with the added Omega-3 oils it would be greasy or watery to apply but it wasn't like this at all. It helped my lips look shiny, whilst also being long lasting too. I thought the colour ended up looking quite crisp too and gave the perfect finish without any additional products such as lipgloss etc.

I thought the packaging was spot on too. Gold can sometimes look tacky, but the gold case actually looked very glamorous and luxurious I found. I also loved the L'Oreal Paris 'print' (I don't know what else to call it...) on the actual lipstick, er, stick. Again, this made the lipstick stand out as more luxurious then their other ranges.

I seem to have a million red lipsticks but I think this one is ideal for those seemingly never ending summer days - y'know the ones where you start off having a pub lunch with your friends on a hot day and somehow this turns into a night out. With it's fuchsia undertones, this shade is the perfect transition from day to night plans without being too full on.

What do you think? Is this a colour you would consider pulling off? Let me know and check back in a few days for my review of the second lipstick I bought...

  1. What a bargain purchase! You were very retrained only getting 5!

I would love to have the confidence to wear this as it looks amazing on you with pale skin but I'm a wimp!
