FRIDAY FAVOURITES // MY FAVOURITE THINGS LATELY..

So I know 'Friday Favourites' isn't an entirely new concept on the blogsphere, but since I often find myself discovering new things that I can't help but brag about, I thought it would be nice to do a little post about things I'm particularly digging this week. And it's actually not all makeup!

First up is this skincare brand that I've been recommending to absolutely everyone lately (even random ladies in Boots who looked particularly lost in the skincare section when I was purchasing these items). Avène is a French skincare brand recommended to me by my sister and I wish I'd discovered it much sooner. I used to have really unhealthy skin - although I never had severe acne, I would break out more than I should for someone my age - looking at me you'd think I had the skin of a teenager as it was so temperamental. Since trying Avène, my skin had cleared up a lot. I no longer break out, and it's also a lot smoother and healthier. I still have a few blackheads in those problem areas, but Avène has prevented further break outs, and these blackheads were already there. It's a great brand which is sensitive to skin and if you go on their website, you can take part in a skin test. They'll evaluate your skin and create a personalized skincare routine for you, and will even send you a couple of samples of the products they think will be best for your skin. I'm thoroughly impressed with this brand and considering I managed to buy everything for my personalized skincare routine for under £40, I'm also very impressed at the price.

Crosses & The War On Drugs
There are a few bands I've wanted to recommend to you all for a while now, but haven't quite gotten around to it since I struggle to write full posts just on one band at the moment - although this is something I'd like to improve on in future. So although I'll probably feature these bands in a playlist post and might even do a full blogpost on each, nonetheless, here's some bands (or rather albums) I really think you should all really check out. Both these were recommendations to me and since my first listen to each a few months ago, I haven't been able to stop listening to either. They've been played over and over on my Spotify and interestingly enough, both are completely different from one another.

Crosses have a very dark and real edgy feel, their album probably isn't everyone's taste, but I really, really love how dark and intriguing it is. It's kind of hard to explain because it isn't scream or hard core and the music is actually quite relaxing, whereas the lyrics kind of push the boundaries a little.

On the other hand, The War On Drugs, are very much 'easy listening' and just remind me entirely of summer. My brother said they have a slight folky feel to them too, which I suppose when listening to their album over and over, I can sort of see now.

I suck at explaining music to people. Just go listen, ha. You won't be disappointed.

Inspire Magazine Online - UK Fashion, Beauty & Lifestyle blog: Friday Favourites // My Favourite Things Lately...; Inspire Magazine; Inspire Magazine Online; Friday Favourites; L'Oreal; L'Oreal Paris; Lipstick

I picked up a bunch of these L'Oreal lipsticks at a boot sale recently and they'd never even been used. I've become a massive lipstick fan since becoming a blogger, I find the majority of lip-glosses to be far too sticky and 'young' for me, and I enjoy experimenting with different shades of lipstick. I love choosing a subtle nude shade for day to day wear like when I'm at work, and if I'm going on a night out or a gig it'll be either a bold purple colour or the deepest red I can find. I never really thought of myself as someone who would be able to pull off such vibrant and bold shades of lipstick, but there you go. I'm really loving all of these shades lately and will be sure to pop up a review ASAP.

You all know how much I've loved attending music festivals since last year, and Slam Dunk is one I'm really, really looking forward to. So many of my favourite artists are playing (All American Rejects, Kids in Glass Houses - who's lead singer still owes me a drink at the after party - Less Than Jake, The Ataris, We The Kings & Red Jumpsuit Apparatus to name a few) so I really, really can't wait. Oh, and an old favourite of me and my sister's - MC Lars, who is a total badass - is also playing too. I know lots of friends attending as well, and I just know that it's going to be a really fun day.

So that's pretty much what I've been talking about a lot lately, or at least recommending. There's loads of other stuff I can't shut up about lately like the new Godzilla film,  plenty of gigs I can't wait to attend and lots of new nice clothes. But they're all for another blogpost another time...

  1. We must be psychic. I have been trying to buy Avene for ages! I read about their retinol products available from the USA, these have the same effects as botox on freezing wrinkles. (I had even thought about botox but alas, too poor) Can you do a post about your adaptation to using these products? Thanks Louuu xx
