BLFW // DAY ONE

Last Monday saw me traveling into London to attend day one of the first ever Bloggers Fashion Week - exciting, right?! Dressed up for the theme - summer garden chic - and clutching my VIB essentials (camera, notepad, VIB card etc), I relaxed into the excited atmosphere in a beautiful penthouse overlooking Leicester Square.

On Monday we were treated with the opportunity to work the room which was filled with a whole bunch of different brands, which was perfect really because it was a bit of everything and wasn't 'just' clothes and accessories. I really loved this part of the day - it was very laid back and relaxed, which meant we could take our time to talk to each brand in full and really find out what they were all about. It was great having a little chinwag, checking out products and listening to a companies story or how they set up their brand and things like that.

One of my favourite brands included Made. What I really loved about them was that they have a workshop in Kenya, using the skills of local artisans and creating a safe working environment. I love that their products are a true reflection of these workers skills; it isn't a high street brand which is simply trying to re-create the look or theme, instead it's a brand that provides unique products that are really true to the artisans creations. Even more so, it's really nice that the brand stands for such great beliefs and are creating jobs and helping develop communities in Kenya.

Another brand I really loved was Apache Rose and felt their jewellery was definitely 'me' - it was very statement and 'out there' and even a little gothic and edgy! It was clear that the jewellery was very high end and great quality, but a lot of the stuff was very affordable too. I had a lovely chat with the lady (whose name escapes me right now!) talking about her reasons for launching the brand, being that she wanted to see more high end and long lasting jewellery that was also affordable and not out of her price range. Hence why Apache Rose was born! That too is something I definitely suffer from too, I tend to buy a lot of jewellery from high street brands like Accessorize and even Primark because I can't afford anything much more expensive and then find it's not as long lasting as more 'expensive' brands. I'll definitely be treating myself to something from Apache Rose in the future, and was extremely grateful to find she'd given us a product to take home with us.

I was treated to this stunning gold and black ribbon bracelet which is perfect for me! I love it so much that I continued to wear it for the following two days of the event.

After we mingled with some brands and tried our hands at jewellery making (I learned how to make a cluster bracelet - it's a LOT harder than it looks but apparently mine turned out pretty well!), we headed downstairs to the Bloggers Boutique, which was another opportunity to meet some more brands and also purchase some products if we liked. I didn't treat myself to anything as I hadn't yet been paid, but again I enjoyed meeting different brands and looking through their lovely products.

I particularly found myself lusting after Jara Wine, who stock beautiful feminine and very chic dresses and clothes. I really loved the cycle print silk dresses, which just makes me think of Paris in the summer. I also really like the fact that on the website, each item has a 'story behind the dress' which is such a sweet and personal idea!

Another brand I loved was lingerie brand Tutti Rouge who stock beautiful feminine and classy lingerie! Their Spring/Summer collection, French Bliss, is filled with stunning pastel and flirty lace lingerie, all reminding me of a contemporary example of what French courtesans used to wear - think  Moulin Rouge just more modern and subtle! Their look book is cutest thing I've ever seen too.

Then we headed back upstairs to the fashion show, which showcased a bunch of the brands that had been there throughout the day. Now bear with me - this is the first fashion show I've ever been to, so my photos won't be the best!

However I really enjoyed it. It was definitely helpful seeing some of the clothes worn as opposed to just on the hanger. The fashion show was a mix of striking patterns and versatile pastel shades which are perfect for summer. We also saw some beautiful but feminine work wear - some lovely suits, as well as dresses and ensembles that are ideal for casual wear both in and out of the office.

So there we have it! A bumper packed post of everything that Bloggers Fashion Week had to offer on the first day. Throughout the week I'll also be posting up some content about what happened on the other days, reviews of some of the beautiful products I received and finally, a sneak peak of what I wore each day of course!

Let me know what you think with a comment - will you be buying from any of the brands mentioned? What do you think of the outfits modelled in the fashion show? I'd love to hear your thoughts!
