September is one of my favourite times of the year TV wise. It's just starting to get cold, so it means a lot of those cosy nights on the sofa underneath a blanket with a cup of tea - with great TV of course. And September normally means some of the best shows returning on our screens after a summer break. Here is my top pick of all the returning shows this month!

Gossip Girl
returns 26th September with season 5

The 5th season of Gossip Girl says goodbye to the characters of Eric, Jenny and Vanessa (thank god, she really annoyed me!) and instead welcomes some new characters, including a role by Elizabeth Hurley! This season focuses at first on Blair finding really how stressful it can be planning a royal wedding, Chuck and Nate visiting Serena, Dan suffering the consequences of writing about his closest friends and the return of cousin Charlie. After that, who knows!

The Vampire Diaries
returned 15th September with season 3

The sexy vampires are back with a bit of role reversal this season! Normally Damon is portrayed as the bad brother but this season sees Stefan taking his place and going on a rampage with Klaus, where instead Damon is left to pick up the pieces with Elena. Which, of course, we hope will ultimately lead to the two becoming much closer.

How I Met Your Mother
returned 19th September with season 7

Lily and Marshall are expecting a baby, Robin is still in love with Barney and Barney is trying to win back Nora in season 7. And Ted? Well, Ted is, as always, searching for the one he's meant to be with, despite admitting to losing faith at first. We also have a surprise in that The Slutty Pumpkin finally returns and the mystery is solved with Katie Holmes guest starring in the role.

American Dad
returned 25th September with season 5

It's not quite the same as the other shows mentioned in this post but I couldn't leave it out! This hilarious show returns with storylines such as Roger traveling to the Middle East to support the troops but getting capture by an alien hunter, Stan getting a curse that makes him age backwards and Hayley adopting a baby who is an evil incarnate.

(Please note all of the above shows return on these dates in America, not in the UK! But episodes are always available online the day after the episode is first aired)

The Only Way Is Essex
returned 25th September with season 3

The so-bad-that-its-good series is finally back and a lot has changed! Amy has left, two italian stallion (twins) join the cast, Mark and Lauren are off (again), Kirk and Lauren have split up as have Sam and Joey and weirdest of all, Arg and Lydia are together!

Made in Chelsea
returned 19th September with series 2

Even more bad then TOWIE, this slightly more posher version sees Ollie in a new relationship with Chloe, Cheska and Binky feeling that they are in the middle of Ollie and Gabriella, Spencer wants to become friends with benefits with an old flame called Louise (not me!) and Hugo and Millie's relationship beings to deteriorate. Oh, and I think Caggie has finally gotten rid of that denim shirt.

Week of 19th - 25th September 2011

Lady Bird
So cute!

My addiction
Forgive me for I have sinned...again. Yes, I have fallen off the wagon in regards to my energy drink addiction. However, getting up at 5am 5 days a week (working 6 days a week altogether) is surely a good enough excuse, no?

Carrot Flower
We went out for a curry on Friday as it was my Mum's birthday Saturday and this came in our food. So pretty! It was a really lush meal except...

Gigantic Onion Baji's!
...except when these arrived! How the hell was I supposed to eat these, look at the size of them!

Micropigs
To be fair, despite being 'proper micropig breeders', I don't think these are actually micro pigs. But I'm trying to talk my mum into getting me one for my birthday, so me and my sister went to have a look at some today as they were at a local garden centre. How bloody cute are they?!

Lovely pub!
My sister also treated us to dinner for my Mum's birthday today and we had such a lovely time. The pub was gorgeous, the service was great and the food was absolutely delicious! It was all 'a la carte' too and somehow we managed a starters, main AND dessert!

Chocolate Ice Cream
Although my dessert was only a scoop of chocolate ice cream ;)

Our 'What's In Your Bag' guest blogger this week is Charlotte Manning from Confessions Of A Small Town Girl!

Hi this is Charlotte Elizabeth, Lousie Joy has kindly let me guest post on her blog, I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I did writing it :)

The bag i use on a daily basis to get me around everywhere is this one below:

It was a Christmas present last year from my fiance, i picked it of course and he did the really rubbish job of hiding it from me when it came in the post! Lol!
It was about £45 from the website, I love Paul's Boutique bags as they are all so unique and quirky and last ages, I've used this nearly every day for 8 months now.

I love the inside detail which is leopard print, i like bags to look different and not the same, the outside is black snakeskin, it being black has the advantage of going with every outfit i own and can be used during the day and will look glam for the night because of its size.
The chain detailing and unique bag charm also gives it its fashionable twist making if different from very other bag.

Inside you will find all these bits and bobs, it can hold an awful lot and has been responsible for helping me sneak lots of food into the cinema before! Hehe!!

My More! magazine - I normally carry a magazine around with me or a book it depends which i read first, but it gives me something to read when I'm out and about and need something to do to pass time.

My Make up bag consists of lots of things, these things are my everyday essentials:
My M.A.C foundation - I use this everyday, its the one piece of make up i will splash out on as its the base for my skin, it gives me a glowing complexion without drying out my skin and is oil free so no greasy skin. for me.
My L'Oreal mascara - i need to invest in a waterproof version as i wear a lot of black make up and I'm forever reapplying my eyeliner or mascara when it comes off during the day, i think i need to invest in waterproof eyeliner as well! Lol!
My Rimmel face powder keeps on top of shine to make my make up flawless.
My pink
L'Oreal lip gloss - this is great lip gloss and keeps my lips moisturised and shiny,
My Blush Pink
Rimmel Lipstick - goes everywhere with me :) it always makes me look like I've made an effort, and can take me from fresh faced during the day to a little bit glam if I'm going for a meal :)
My E.L.F face primer, I've only started using this and have noticed a little bit of a difference, i have oily skin so it keeps shine at bay for maybe and hour longer but it creates the perfect canvas for when i put on my foundation.
My two sided brush is a foundation brush at one end and a blusher and face powder brush at the other end from H&M, its my godsend and is perfect for night out!!

I always carry around a perfume and I'm in love with Chanel, I have all 3 varieties and always pick a bottle up in duty free when I'm away, it always smells so floraley and stay put all day long :)

I suffer from dry hands a lot and i use this all the time, its gaurenteed to moisturise my hands for hours, and it smells so yummy!!!!!!I'm never without it

My purse, this was also a Christmas present from my fiance, its not a purse I would of picked myself but I love it more for that reason :) its got lots of pocket and compartments so i can carry all my cards and cash around :)

My blackberry and also my godsend, I could never be without this baby, it goes everywhere with me! Lol!
I love my blackberry chat and have all my close frinds on there, it stores all my personal info, dates emails, you name it!!
The poor thing has an almighty scratch on it though from when i dropped it but it still works despite the 100 times I've dropped it oooops!!

& lastly my keys, i have two pairs, one for my dads since I'm down there nearly everyday, (it doesn't feel like I've moved out! Lol!)
& a
pair for mine and my fiances flat :)

That's everything i have in my bag, not an awful lot but its all the basics that get me around!!

This post is all about those staple pieces that every woman should have hanging in their wardrobe. Those timeless classics that can be worn time and time again, that can be dressed up or dressed down. Most women know the basics, the Little Black Dress (I have about 6 of these!), the boyfriend shirt (I don't have one of these..guilty as charged!) etc but what would YOU say is a staple piece? I am initiating a discussion here, I want to know YOUR picks in the comments section below.

With my first ever big fat pay check due in at the end of the month (I'm already dreaming of what I'm going to spend it on, wise choices like driving lessons and er *cough* La Senza underwear...) and the look on my sisters face as she helped me pick an outfit for an important interview I had recently, I've decided this will be an excuse to shop. Or rather, my sister moaned at me that I don't own any staple pieces, asked me why I owned a ridiculous amount of flower print dresses and decided she is going to take me shopping when I get paid. I had to give in.

So this is what I've come up with so far (with the help of my sister). The list of staple pieces that every woman should own...

The Little Black Dress

It is a fashion rule that every woman should own a simple, elegant black dress that can be relied on whatever the occasion. This dress must fulfill most needs and situations ; ideally it should be able to be dressed up for an evening occasion, or dressed down for a day occasion. Items can be added to it to make it acceptable for anything from an interview to a posh dinner.

The Boyfriend Shirt/A Classic White Shirt

Ideally a woman should own two of these ; a classic white shirt that can be worn for all smart occasions, and a boyfriend shirt that should be slightly oversized and can be worn for every other occasion. A simple, classic white shirt is absolutely perfect because the options are endless!

A Pair Of Smart Trousers

Even if you live in jeans, you should always own a pair of more smart trousers for job interviews, dinners etc. A pair of Chino trousers are ideal because they are fitted and always available in a number of different versatile colours. These types of trousers are a nice change when you do live in jeans and can make a dressed down outfit just look that little bit more structured when what it would in jeans.

A Pair Of Casual Trousers/Jeans

The problem with jeans is that there are so many different types of jeans that it's impossible to know where to start. But every woman should have that reliable pair of jeans that will always fit perfectly, look good and can be worn on a day-to-day basis. These should fit well, but shouldn't be skinny fit jeans as they should be comfortable and available to wear for those slouchy moods too. And of course, these should also be the one pair of jeans that make your ass look great (aka the perfect pick me up when you're feeling down - no matter what has happened you're ready to face any day as long as your bum looks good!).

Ballet Pumps/Flats/Dolly Shoes

This one's pretty standard really. Everyone should own a simple black pair of these, even if its just a rolled up pair in their hand bag for when the heels get too much on a night out. Black goes with everything and whilst some women live in dolly shoes (as I still call them) others live in heels - but every woman should have a pair of these to wear sometimes. As a side note, these should always be comfortable, especially if you do live in heels. I don't know about you, but I hate plastic dolly shoes so I would suggest putting a lot of time and effort into finding the perfect pair of these shoes, especially if you plan to wear them a lot.

And that's all I have so far. What are your staple pieces? Please don't think of this as contributing to a blog post, I really need the help for when I have my big shop later this month!

When I was given the opportunity to review a nail varnish of my choice from FunkyDivaa, I jumped at the chance and immediately picked this nail varnish. I am a fan of Barry M nail varnishes and really loved the black crackle effect one, so I decided to try out the white.

£3.99 from FunkyDivaa.com

I really loved the effect that the black crackle effect had on my nails as I always thought it always made my nails stand out more and look a bit quirky. But I was eager to try the white version as I thought this would be a more versatile day-to-day look without being too over the top.

I was really glad with my decision as this nail varnish really did make my nails look all that better without being too over the top. I felt it was perfect to wear in the day. I experimented by painting my nails using my recently purchased pastel collection from Models Own and once my nails were dry, I painted over the top of them with the Instant Nail Effects. For those of you who have not used this type of nail varnish before, you simply paint it over an already coloured nail and wait for it to crackle which it will within seconds. Less then 10 seconds later you are left with a funky, one of a kind pattern. And it really does dry within those 10 seconds which is absolutely ideal.

I was really pleased with the final result. I felt the pastel colours used made it perfect for the summer, but the white frost addition meant it would also be ideal for the winter too. Although I tried it with five different colours (Top Turquoise, Lilac Dream, Lemon Meringue, Fuzzy Peach and Feeling Blue), it looked absolutely lovely the most with Lemon Meringue and Lilac Dream.

I would without a doubt recommend this product to anyone and if anyone already has the black effects then I would suggest the white effects too! It dries quickly, it transforms any nail and looks great with any colour and as a bonus its cheap and affordable.

You can buy Barry M Instant Nail Effects in White Frost from FunkyDivaa.com and you can also use the discount code LOUISE15 at check out to get 15% off of your order!
